Join us for this 2-session course suitable for beginner gardeners, where you will dig into the fascinating world of plant pathology. On day one, immerse yourself in the science behind plant diseases, understand why plants get sick, explore effective management tools, and gain a deeper insight into the microscopic ecology thriving in your garden. On day two, step into the garden with Elizabeth as your expert guide. Get ready for a hands-on experience as we conduct thorough diagnostics using hand lenses and smartphones (optional). Bring your curiosity and questions as we collaborate to unravel plant health issues, focusing on prevention and management strategies.

Instructor’s Bio  

Elizabeth Hudgins, a seasoned plant pathologist, has served as a plant disease diagnostician at Oklahoma State University and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food for numerous years. With a BSc from the University of Toronto and an MS in plant pathology from Michigan State University, her research has centred on a soil fungal disease affecting celery. Since 2016, she has been an instructor for the Vancouver Master Gardener Program, where she takes pleasure in imparting her expertise on plant problems and the art and science of diagnosis. sickplants.ca

A credit will be applied to your account for cancellations with one week's notice. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost. Credits must be used within one year from the date issued.
