Discover the fascinating world of eco-printing, where leaves, flowers, seeds, and bark transform fabric into unique works of art. Under the guidance of Fernanda Mascarenhas, you'll learn the basics of eco-printing while creating your own silk scarf and cotton bandana. Explore dyeing plants, fabric types, and the use of mordants to enhance your designs. Plus, we'll use plants gathered from the streets of Metro Vancouver, connecting you with nature's beauty. Don't miss this chance to express your creativity in a whole new way! Online registration is required. Important Details In addition to the registration fee for the class ($85 + tax), you must also purchase 1 kit of Eco-Printing Supplies ($15 + tax*). This fee will cover all supplies needed to complete the take-home scarf and bandana. *Member discounts do not apply to the purchase of supplies. Instructor's Bio Fernanda Mascarenhas is a textile and natural dye artist, dance performer, and longtime Zen Buddhist practitioner from Brazil. Her journey into natural dyeing began with award-winning costumes, leading her to Japan to deepen her skills. Now, she shares her expertise, honouring nature's cycles and the ancestral power of plants. Besides teaching, Fernanda used to run a studio to create one-of-a-kind textile pieces. Notes: Please note registration for this program will close on Thursday, July 4th at 4:00 pm. Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given for education courses. A credit will be applied to your account for cancellations with one week's notice. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost. Credits must be used within one year from the date issued. Prerequisites: Educational programs are available for both members and non-members. In order to register for a class, you first need to open an account with Amilia, our online registration portal.
