Description:

Discover the stark beauty of silhouettes in this 4-session watercolour painting series! 
Learn how to capture the essence of leafless trees, the striking North Shore mountains, plants, and even human figures using simple watercolour techniques. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this course offers an opportunity to unleash your creativity. Instructor Susan Pearson will provide image references for inspiration, but participants are also encouraged to bring their reference materials. Bring your imagination and curiosity, and let's explore what we can create together! 

Susan suggests that participants bring the following materials:    

  1. Paper - Arches 140lb-300lb. cold press watercolour paper, 9” x 12” or larger.    

  2. Watercolour Paints—Holbein brand: Red (Carmine), Yellow (New Gamboge), and Blue (Peacock blue). You can add Olive Green, Opera (hot pink), and Payne's grey.    

  3. Detailed Brushes—Size 01 for fine detail. A good array of brushes includes sizes 04, 1, 4, and 6.    

  4. Mixing Palette - plastic or white ceramic surface    

  5. Sketching – 2b mechanical pencil and white eraser    

  6. Water – 2 mason jars or two yogurt containers  

  7. Blow Dryer – nice to have for drying paint layers quickly
