Description:
Dig In workshops take place outside in the Learning Garden at VanDusen Botanical Garden; these beginner-friendly, monthly sessions cover a variety of seasonal topics to help build your gardening skills. Transform your tomato patch into a high-yielding haven this summer. In this interactive July workshop, you will learn how to tend, prune, and support your plants at the peak of the season for maximum harvest. Topics include: how to choose the best varieties for your garden space and local climate, techniques for staking and pruning, and tips on optimizing watering, fertilizing and other midsummer care requirements for these tasty fruits (yes, fruits!). Led by Sangeeta Thomas, Learning Garden Coordinator, the workshop will include a hands‑on gardening portion, and offer tried & true techniques you can use at home. Participants will take home a small selction of seeds for their own spring plantings. Note: The Learning Garden is a 15-minute walk along paved and gravel trails. The garden features accessible raised beds. This outdoor workshop runs rain or shine, so please dress for the weather! Read our cancellation policy here.
