Join us for a delightful journey into the world of tropical flower arrangements, just in time for Mother's Day! Unleash your love for flowers and creativity as we guide you in crafting a stunning Tropical Mother's Day arrangement, perfect for gifting or enhancing your home's ambiance. Dive into a vibrant palette of tropical blooms, from exotic Birds of Paradise to elegant orchids and striking protea. Learn the art of arranging these beauties to create a truly unique masterpiece. No prior experience is needed - just bring your enthusiasm!

Please bring your own floral snips or light pruners if you have them; however, we will provide clippers for anyone without their own.

Important Details 

In addition to the registration fee for the class ($42 + tax), you must also purchase 1 set of floral materials ($55 + tax*). This fee will cover all floral materials and supplies needed to complete the take-home tropical floral arrangement. *Member discounts do not apply to the purchase of the Flower Arrangement Supplies.

Instructor’s Bio 

Leia Schatz, a floral designer based in Vancouver, BC, brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her floral work. With a graphic design and writing background, Leia's floral designs have been featured in prominent media outlets. She played a key role in the wreath movement and co-founded a thriving plant center in the U.S. Leia honed her skills by working with renowned designers like Maureen Sullivan and Amanda Dhillon, who specialized in tropical arrangements. Her passion for flowers led her back to Vancouver, where she continues to explore floral artistry, including studying Ikebana at the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Leia's love for design, writing, workshops, music, and nature shines through in her work. She is seeking sponsorship to publish a series of books on tropical floral recipes, embodying her philosophy of embracing creativity and enjoying the beauty and symbolism of flowers as expressions of love and the cycle of life.

Notes: Please note that registration will close at 11:45 p.m. on May 1st to guarantee the supplies required for this workshop. Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given for education courses. A credit will be applied to your account for cancellations with one week's notice. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost. Credits must be used within one year from the date issued. Please notify us of your cancellation in writing to learn@vandusen.org

Prerequisites: Educational programs are available for both members and non-members. In order to register for a class, you first need to open an account with Amilia, our online registration portal.
