Improve your drawing skills to become a better artist for journaling, teaching, or pure enjoyment. Observational drawing is about accurately representing what you see directly from nature in pencil on paper. In this process, identify plants by recording their character using the elements of art:  line, shape, form and colour, to develop your unique illustrations of plant life. Learn a variety of methods and approaches to capture quick representations of plants from different perspectives as well as close-up detail. Katharine will teach you how to record nature through illustration.

Online education techniques include presentations, live front view, and overhead demonstrations.

This three-part series will take place on Wednesdays, starting on October 4th and concluding on October 18th.

Participants are encouraged to have the following materials at home:

  • 11x14 multimedia sketchbook
  •  2H, HB and 2B pencils
  • Eraser
  • Watercolour paint set or your preferred colour media

This course will take place online, and recordings will be available for a limited time to participants. Pre-registration is required.
