About the presentation:

Join us for this fascinating online presentation about the acoustic traditions and culture of Orca, Humpback and Fin Whales living along the coast of British Columbia. Cetacean researcher and environmental activist Janie Wray will discuss the importance of sound, a quiet ocean for whales, and the different technologies being used to record and better understand the habitat use, and communication of whales. 

About the speaker:

Janie Wray, CEO and lead researcher for BC Whales, has studied the acoustic traditions and culture of whale behaviour for the last 24 years. She is the founder of the North Coast Cetacean Society, BC Whales and the Fin Island Marine Institute, and recently became the science director for Orcalab. She is devoted to the protection of whales and their precious habitat needs along the coast of British Columbia.

Notes: Pre-registration is required. This course will take place online, and recordings will be available for a limited time to participants. Online course log-in details will be sent 24 hours before course date. Cancellation policy: No refunds will be given for education courses. A credit will be applied to your account for cancellations with one week's notice. With less than a week's notice, no credit will be given. No new credit will be issued if the cancelled course was purchased using prior credit. Program cancellation by the VBGA due to Public Health Restrictions will result in education program credit equivalent to the value lost.
