Description:
FELT à la main with LOVE SOFT SCULPTURAL SUCCULENTS Wool+Water+Agitation=Magic! In this introduction to wet felting workshop, you will learn how to make a soft sculptural hand-felted succulent. Starting with a 2D flat layout of fibres, wetting it down, agitating it or felting it until it becomes a material, cutting it, fulling it and sculpting it into a 3D succulent. You will be given different shaping and finishing options. Felting tools will be standing by for you to use (bubble wrap, felting solution, soap, towel...). Fibre supplies will be provided to make one succulent. The workshop will be held at the Guides Classroom within VanDusen's Visitor Center. Online pre-registration is required. Plastic gloves will be on hand, but please bring your own if you have allergies or sensitive skin. Artist's Bio For 25 years, Chantal Cardinal has established her foundation as a Fashion Designer and Costumer within the film industry. Her journey began in an atelier, where she was introduced to wet felting techniques that ignited her fascination with the interplay of fibres and the innate beauty of nature's resources. This passion led her to establish FELT à la main with LOVE, a platform dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of wool, from wearable art to sound-absorbing wall hangings. Chantal's work has graced exhibitions in BC, the USA, and the UK, and her creative prowess was acknowledged through a Vancity public art commission for the Surrey City Center Branch. With an unwavering dedication to sharing her craft, she conducts workshops within her studio and diverse community settings. Her artistic endeavours have been featured at BC Culture Days, Studio 101, CREATE, Harmony, and Arts in the Garden Art Festivals. This year, she is looking forward to installing a large-scale (300 sqft) hand-felted window installation at the ACT in Maple Ridge and will be facilitating a Collective Art Project during this year's TED talks.
