These entertaining travelogues recount exciting adventures, and, in Thorogood’s case, what might be called the practice of extreme botany, in the pursuit of plants. All four writers delight in sharing the joy of the chase, often through remote and hostile landscapes, the excitement of the find, and showing plants in unexpected ways to their readers. The books are also lavishly illustrated with photographs, maps and original illustrations.
