Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs for children and youth
Description
Western Engineering Outreach started in 1990 with Discovery Western, a four week summer camp for elementary school students. Western Engineering Outreach has since grown as a multifaceted team managed by the Faculty of Engineering at Western University dedicated to empowering children and youth by sparking their curiosity and confidence in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Western Engineering Outreach offers a suite of fun, hands-on programming for children and youth from kindergarten to Grade 12, ranging from in-school workshops to summer camps to weekend clubs. Each year, programs are dedicated to children and youth under-represented in STEM studies and careers including women and girls, Indigenous youth, Black youth, youth with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, rural youth, newcomers to Canada and youth from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Western Engineering Outreach believes that STEM is for everyone and actively works to remove barriers to participation in STEM.
