Make your summer a swingin’ one and come out for our annual Jazz in the Park concerts! Each month will feature talented jazz musicians in a different neighborhood park. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and refreshments.

5-5:45: Forebeat

Forebeat is an electronic-acoustic project founded by percussionist, James Mauck (Champaign, IL), and fuses styles such as breakbeat and hip-hop with sounds of the avant-garde, Afro-Cuban and Afro-Caribbean grooves, and found percussion. All of these concepts are blended through layered loops and trippy effects that James experiments with on each improvised performance, thus creating a unique sonic experience that has been honed and perfected since Forebeat's inception in 2018.

6-6:45: Kurt Reeder ORGANization

C-U's champion of the Hammond B3, Kurt Reeder, heads The Kurt Reeder ORGANization. This collective delivers the classic, hard-hitting hard bop organ soul jazz from the "J5" masters of the genre: Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, local legend Jack McDuff, Big John Patton, and Joey DeFrancesco.

7-8: Andrew Binder's Conspiracy Deliracy

Conspiracy Deliracy, the brainchild of St. Louis-based bassist and composer Dr. Andrew Binder, features original compositions crossed between modern jazz, pop music icons, their music, and conspiracy theories. Each track is steeped with distorted references as tongue-in-cheek commentary on today’s delusional era of misinformation, sensitively interpreted by some of the Midwest’s top jazz musicians.
