Perfect for creative minds who love to play games, invent new rules, and explore how games work.

Ever wondered how your favorite games like Catan, Uno, or Dungeons & Dragons came to be?
In this five-week workshop, students explore the world of tabletop game design—where math meets creativity and play becomes invention. Each session blends play, discovery, and creation. Students analyze popular games, explore mechanics like chance, balance, and storytelling, and design their own original tabletop game to take home and share.

By the end of the series, participants will have:

  • Played and analyzed classic games

  • Designed, tested, and refined a prototype

  • Learned how game creators market and share their designs

  • Time for revision & polishing

  • Learn about marketing, virtual design & storytelling

Week 1: Play, Analyze, and Think Like a Designer

Week 2: Micro-Design: The 5-Minute Dice Game

Week 3: Big Project: Concept & Prototype

Week 4: Testing, Balance, and Polish

Week 5: Showcase, Marketing, and Reflection

Artist-Instructor: Christian Cook is a writer, educator, and designer who teaches storytelling and game design through creativity and play.
