The Centre Wakefield La Pêche (CWLP) cooperative has been a cornerstone of community life for over a decade, serving as a hub for arts, culture, and recreation in the Municipality of La Pêche. Established in 2011, the CWLP was the result of over 10 years of dedication by a small group of volunteers, supported by local businesses, governments, and generous donors. The building has hosted hundreds of performances, workshops, and youth camps, becoming a vital space for the local community. With over 2,000 members in 2023, the CWLP offers a wide range of bilingual programs and events. Member engagement has been a key focus, with regular sessions designed to involve members in shaping future initiatives and improving services for residents. The facility is a versatile venue, including a 200-seat performance space, professional lighting, a commercial kitchen, and an outdoor ice rink and skate park. It also hosts a library, playground, soccer field, and is home to various community organizations like Biblio Wakefield Library, Theatre Wakefield, The WAY, and the Wakefield Recreation Association.
