Description

The Gulf Islands Centre for Ecological Learning (GICEL) connects people with nature within the natural environment of British Columbia's southern Gulf Islands. GICEL is a registered non-profit society in British Columbia, governed by a volunteer board of directors representing GICEL’s partner organizations and the community. GICEL began in 2002 and annual newsletters summarize GICEL’S activities. GICEL’s programs go beyond traditional environmental education or outdoor education. Our ecologically-based and place- based programs are rooted in direct experience. The very popular GICEL Summer Earth Education Program (SEEP) for children is offered on Mayne, Pender, Saturna and Salt Spring Islands. For 2025, we’re offering four weeks of the Summer Earth Education Program (SEEP) for 6-12-year-olds on Mayne Island, with a capacity of 30 participants in each camp, alongside two weeks of Seedlings, a half-day offering of nature play for 2.5-5 year olds, offered in partnership with the Mayne Island Early Childhood Society.
