Description :

The experience of paddling among cypress trees, flowering lily pads and floating bog mats of insectivorous pitcher plants and bladderworts creates an unusual landscape of interest and intrigue. The bay lakes of Bladen County, naturally darkened by tannic acid and surrounded by heavily forested shorelines, remain shrouded in mystery. They are the perfect destination for the curious and adventuresome paddler. By kayak you will explore Suggs Mill Pond/Horseshoe Lake and Jones Lake State Park. Hiking trails leading into pocosin and Long-leaf Pine communities provide an opportunity to see Fox Squirrels, Red-cockaded Woodpeckers, reptiles and other wildlife.

A weekend of adventure awaits! Camping is at Jones Lake State Park with modern bathhouse facilities. All meals except for Thursday's lunch and dinner are provided. Guides, transportation and boats with required equipment are provided as well. This trip is designed for the beginner and advanced kayak paddler. Kayak guides are Level 3 certified.
