Description

The Institute of Music for Children is a nonprofit arts group focused on changing lives through creativity, connection, and community. Since 2003, we have offered accessible, high-quality arts education in Elizabeth, New Jersey, welcoming young people from all backgrounds, especially those who might not otherwise have access to the arts. Our mission is clear: we empower children and families through the arts. We believe creativity builds confidence, strengthens communities, and gives every child a voice. Our programs include music, theater, dance, and visual arts. They help children develop artistic skills and encourage empathy, discipline, and self-expression. Every step here leads to growth and change. Every year, hundreds of students join our afterschool and Saturday classes, summer camp, and community programs. We support families by offering scholarships, mentorship, and a safe, welcoming space where young people can learn, lead, and feel they belong. Our impact goes beyond the classroom. By working with schools, civic groups, and local leaders, we help build stronger and more creative communities. From a child’s first performance on stage to a teen guiding younger artists, every experience here helps create positive change. At the Institute of Music for Children, art is not a luxury. It is a lifeline.
