It's time to get together and make some music! Your child will continue building their skills and love for the guitar this year in a twice-weekly group class focused on advancing technique, musical skills, and knowledge of the instrument. 

Your child will learn the following skills: 

• Playing scales and arpeggios in major and minor keys 
• Playing major, minor, and seventh chords 
• Playing guitar repertoire in a variety of styles from different genres of music 
• Improvising melodies over a series of chord changes 
• Identifying common intervals aurally and visually 
• Deepening their connection and understanding of the music they love! 

This intermediate level class is best for students who have studied guitar for a minimum of 1 year (at Merit or elsewhere) and are available to students by teacher recommendation or a placement audition. If you don’t have a teacher recommendation, please contact Guitar Program Manager, Sarah Forbes (sforbes@meritmusic.org) to schedule your audition before registering so we can help place your child in the appropriate class level. 

Please note: The deadline for summer registration is May 23. Register by this date to ensure your child is enrolled for the start of programming.
