Horaire :

Description :
Learn the basics of writing for the stage and connect with a community of Canadian writers in this free introductory virtual course. Playwright and theatre creator Julie Tepperman will explore some playwriting fundamentals as she guides participants through a series of exercises that will ignite creativity and offer strategies for generating material - both dialogue and monologue. Participants will work independently in this shared zoom space, and will have the option to share snippets of writing with the larger group as we move through each exercise. (Sharing is not mandatory!) Please register by April 15. The workshop will take place on zoom. In partnership with Koffler Arts and the Harold Green Jewish Theatre. Generously supported by UJA’s Kultura Collective. Julie Tepperman is an award-winning Toronto-based Playwright, Actor, and Arts Educator. For 15 years she was Co-Artistic Leader (with her husband Aaron Willis) of the 'immersively curious' Convergence Theatre, for which she has written several plays. Published by Playwrights Canada Press, Julie has had upwards of ten plays professionally produced across Canada (mostly in Toronto), including two librettos for operas and the book of a musical. She has taught playwriting courses & workshops for adults at TMU (Act II Studio), UofT (Continuing Education), Convergence Theatre (Workshop Series) and the MNJCC (Playwriting For Beginners), as well as for youth with The Stratford Festival, Young People's Theatre, and across TDSB schools. Julie has received multiple grants in support of the development of her work, has been Playwright-In-Residence at Theatre Passe Muraille, and a Playwright Retreat Artist with Stratford's Foerster Bernstein New Play Development Program. She is passionate about sharing her love of playwriting with emerging and beginner playwrights! For more on Julie: www.convergencetheatre.com
