Sweet Harmony: Folk Trios of the 60s & 70s Popular folk singing duo Sue and Dwight return to the Miles Nadal JCC this spring, along with special musical guest Henry Lees! Folk trios were central to the 1960s American folk revival, with their rich harmonies and timely lyrics, and the close-harmony trios of the 1970s blended soft rock with traditional acoustic folk. Enjoy legendary folk classics from The Rooftop Singers, The Kingston Trio, Peter Paul and Mary, Crosby Still & Nash, America… and more! Admission: $12.00 Born too late to be part of the 1960’s folk revival, Winnipeg-born, Toronto-based singer songwriters Sue and Dwight embody the musical spirit of that time. Their songs about the prairies, life in the big city, and travels in East Africa impart human stories of peace, courage, and social justice in their own unique Canadiana style. Sue and Dwight have released three CDs of their own songs and are fixtures on the Toronto Roots music scene. Originally a westerner, vocalist Henry Lees fronted Calgary’s popular original pop/rock band The Household Saints for a decade. Henry also performed nationwide with actor, musician and Order of Canada honouree Tom Jackson on his Huron Carole benefit tours. Now immersed in the vibrant, diverse and inspiring music community in Toronto, Henry is continuing to chase songs in earnest. His songwriting has received recognition from several renown international competitions. And he has dived head first into collaborations performing with more notable Canadian artists such as David Storey, Evelynne Ross, Sue and Dwight, The Prince Brothers, Kevin Zarnett and Lawrie Ingles, Henry’s partner in the dynamic soul-pop duo The Soul Maitre D's. At the Miles Nadal JCC, Henry performed alongside Sue & Dwight at our sold-out 2018 Peter, Paul and Mary tribute concert, and we are pleased to welcome him back this spring!!

In 2012, Sue and Dwight developed the musical show “Where Have All the Folk Songs Gone”, a 1960′s Folk Revival tribute show that transported audiences back to the coffeehouses of that special time and that era of hope. During the pandemic, they continued bringing their music to audiences virtually through their weekly Wednesday Living Room Live. A crowd favourite at our JCC for years, Sue & Dwight performed the sold-out concerts: Singing for Social Change: Women Musicians of the 1960s and 70s; The Greatest Hits of Peter, Paul and Mary ; Leonard Cohen & Bob Dylan: The Two Jewish Folk Poets and last year’s Summer Side of Life: A Gordon Lightfoot Tribute Concert. We are delighted to welcome them back to our building this spring, along with Henry Lees! For more information, visit https://sueanddwight.com/bio
