Description :
An African beginner drum lesson focuses on the fundamentals of playing the Djembe, a traditional West African drum. Students learn proper hand placement and techniques to produce the three main sounds—bass, tone, and slap. Lessons include practicing simple traditional rhythms, such as "Kassa" or "Doun Doun," while developing timing and coordination. Additionally, students explore the cultural significance of the Djembe in West African music through call-and-response exercises and steady beat maintenance. The lessons are designed for beginners, requiring no prior drumming experience
What students will learn:
Proper hand positioning on the Djembe
How to create the bass, tone, and slap sounds

Notes : Drums and piano students do not have to bring their instruments to class. All other students should always bring their instruments and music to class.
