Join us at the Ottawa River Canoe Club for a fun-filled day on the water! Whether you're an experienced paddler, completely new to canoeing and kayaking, or simply looking for a great family activity, our Open House is the perfect opportunity to experience everything ORCC has to offer.

Tour the club, meet our coaches and community members, try different boats, enjoy the beach atmosphere, and experience the Ottawa River from the water.

No experience necessary — everyone is welcome!

What to Expect

🚣 Try Paddling

Get out on the water in a variety of boats with support from our experienced coaches and volunteers. We’ll help you feel comfortable and safe while having fun.

🌊 Open Paddle & Swim Time

Spend the day exploring the club grounds, relaxing by the river, swimming, and learning more about our programs and camps.

🐉 Dragon Boat Experience

Hop into one of our Dragon Boats for a team paddling experience! Certified coaches will provide a quick introduction before heading out on the water.

♿ Inclusive & Adaptive Programming

Learn about our accessible paddling opportunities and adaptive equipment designed to support paddlers of all abilities.

Accessibility Time with Dedicated Support

This dedicated time is designed for individuals with disabilities and access needs who may benefit from additional support and a quieter environment.

Features include:

• 4+ accessible parking spaces
• Ramps and Mobi mats for smooth access
• EZ Dock system for assisted boat transfers
• Adaptive paddles and seating
• Boat stabilization systems
• Rough terrain wheelchairs
• Wheelchair-accessible change rooms and washrooms

Dragon Boat Outing

🚨 Limited spots available — first come, first served!

Join one of our two Dragon Boats for an exciting group paddle on the Ottawa River. Each boat holds up to 20 paddlers.

Certified coaches will provide:

• A quick introductory lesson
• On-water instruction and guidance
• A fun and supportive team experience

Perfect for beginners and returning paddlers alike!

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Open Paddle & Swim Time

Enjoy a relaxed day at the club:

• Tour the facilities
• Meet staff and coaches
• Learn about programs and camps
• Try different boats
• Swim and enjoy the beach
• Ask questions about memberships and programming

A lifeguard will be on duty, along with staff and volunteers assisting on the beach and docks to help ensure everyone’s safety.

What to Bring

• Comfortable clothing you can move in
• Clothing that can get wet
• Water shoes or sandals
• Towel and change of clothes
• Sunscreen and water bottle

Lifejackets and paddling equipment will be provided.
