Make your first garment from scratch! This series will focus on sewing pajamas from a pattern using a sewing machine. This class includes three sessions:

• Cutting your pattern pieces
• Sewing the pajama bottoms
• Sewing the pajama top

What’s Included

• Sewing Machines (although feel free to bring your own; studio machines are first come, first served)

• Fabric scissors and cutting stations

• Basic tools - pins, needles, chalk, seam rippers etc. (Feel free to bring your own, too!)

What’s NOT Included

• Pattern: Simplicity 3971, which is a unisex button down pajama pattern with elastic waisted pajama bottoms. 
• Fabric: Stable light to midweight cottons, like a quilting cotton, which should be available at any fabric store. Please buy the quantity according to the size chart indicated by the pattern, and wash fabric before the first class. You can complete either B or C view of the pattern, depending on your preference for long sleeves or short sleeves, long pants or shorts; this will affect the amount of fabric you purchase.
• Notions: All-purpose thread that matches your fabric, four 3/4in buttons, 1 1/2 yd of 3/4in wide elastic, and 1 1/8 yd of lightweight fusible interfacing.

• Guidance on how to cut fabric accurately
• How to finish seams for long-lasting clothing
• How to attach buttons and buttonholes
• How to sew an elastic waist
• Basic fit adjustments like shortening and lengthening pattern pieces and grading between sizes
