If you’re always told you should try stand-up, or that you’re the 'funny one' in the group, this class is for you. Together we’ll develop our individual comedic performance skills by writing and workshopping material for the stage. If you've been wanting to try standup but you need a bit of a confidence boost, this is the course for you!

Classes will include an intro to joke writing, comedic timing, storytelling, voice projection, and stage presence, improvisation, and stand-up 'do’s and don’ts' (never run the light!). Talking on stage is ranked as a top fear among most people, so if you're scared to get up in front of a crowd, you're in good company! We’ll write and perform our jokes for the class, and build each other up along the way.

Instructor Bio:

The class will be facilitated by Kelowna comedian, Kate Belton. Kate has been performing stand-up comedy since 2015 when she started in Vancouver and instantly developed a love for the artform. Kate has performed in comedy clubs across the country, showcased at Yuk Yuk’s in Vancouver, and can be heard on CBC's Laugh Out Loud Podcast. Kate hosts the popular Silly Sally Comedy Show at Bernie's which brings in headlining comedians from all over Canada.
