Description :

What goes into a good pickle? A few ingredients, some time, and an understanding of what’s happening in the jar. Join food educator Jonah Greenbaum-Shinder of Ottawa Culture Club for a hands-on evening of pickling at the SJCC.

We’ll make two types of pickles and explore the process behind them, from preparing a brine to building flavour and knowing what to watch for at home. Along the way, we’ll connect the science in the jar with the pickling traditions of Jewish kitchens and delis.

You’ll leave with two 500 mL jars and practical guidance for continuing the process at home and making your next batch. No previous fermentation experience needed.
