Description :
Join us for an immersive experience as we embark on the Mesoamerican Cacao Journey. This event offers an interactive discussion on the historical trade routes that brought cacao and other agricultural products to Canada, following the ancient Indigenous trade paths from Central America through Mexico, the United States, and eventually to Canada. Nina, from Chiraza Foods, will share her family's farming and trade traditions, focusing on empowering and revitalizing Indigenous trade, especially for women. You'll have the opportunity to taste exquisite cacao and Mesoamerican chai tea, with the chance to purchase premium products from Chiraza Foods, with proceeds supporting their social programs. Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a journey that celebrates culture, tradition, and community. Online pre-registration is required. Instructor’s Bio Nina Marie is an award-winning Indigenous Chicana Mexican and Dutch German landscape technician, horticulturist, culinary farmer, spoken word poet, and artist. Her family has a long history of farming, working in the food industry, and the export market on Turtle Island.
