Description :

Join Poh Tan for a four-session exploration of hula, storytelling, plants, and culture. A scientist and hula dancer who studied with Kumu Josie de Baat of Hālau Kiaʻi O Ka Hula, Poh will introduce participants to the basic steps of hula and explore how this beautiful dance form can be used to share meaningful stories about plants, nature, and our environment.

No previous hula experience is required—we’ll start with the basics and build from there.

What to bring: A sarong or piece of cloth that can be comfortably wrapped around your hips for dancing.

Location: The first session will be held at Bloedel Conservatory and the following three sessions at VanDusen Botanical Gardens. All classes are indoors.
