Have you always wanted to be a lifeguard but not sure if you are able to pass the pre-course test? Now there is a course to prepare you! During this course participants will practice all skills necessary to prepare for the pre-course test given the first day of the Lifeguarding Program. The pre-course consists of the following:

Prerequisites:

• Swim 150 yards continuously demonstrating rhythmic breathing. Participants may demonstrate Freestyle (front crawl) and breaststroke. Swimming on their back is not permitted. (googles are permitted)
• Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
• Swim 50 yards
• Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. (NO googles permitted)
  – Starting in the water, swim 20 yards.
  – Surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
  – Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point.
  – Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Notes: Completion of course gets students 50% off an April lifeguard certification course. Completion of this course is not a lifeguard certification.

Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years. Please note all participants must be comfortable swimming in deep water.
