Start date: Friday, July 24 2026.

Schedule:

 Friday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM ,

Resource person: Audra Bullard

Description:

All Americans are taught that France was our first ally, and that her military contributions to our Revolution helped secure U.S. independence. Most, however, know little about the French leaders, soldiers, and sailors who, while fighting for an autocratic king, sacrificed life and limb to usher in a modern democracy. In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this talk will review the men, units, and actions of the forces committed to the American cause and suggest how their experience of fighting overseas impacted the French revolutionary and Napoleonic wars that followed.
