Start date: Wednesday, July 15 2026.

Schedule:

 Wednesday, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM ,

Resource person: Audra Bullard

Description:

President Donald Trump in his second administration has implemented several important changes in American foreign policy, in areas including trade, immigration, climate change, foreign aid, nuclear weapons, military spending, and relations with NATO members, Russia, China, and Saudi Arabia. The new year brought the American capture of the president of Venezuela, and talk of invading the Danish territory of Greenland, and then the war in Iran. We will discuss both the particulars of Trump’s foreign policy, as well as his grand vision, what “making America great again” might mean regarding America’s relationship with the world, especially over the rest of his term. Is Trump withdrawing America’s involvement in world affairs to create a fortress America? Is he trying to completely overturn the post-1945 world order? Is he trying to create a new American empire? We will also draw historical comparisons between the foreign policy of Trump and of past American presidents.
