Is it really possible to “read” a work of art the way we read a text? In this presentation, we will explore practical tools that can deepen your understanding and enjoyment of visual art. Together, we’ll look at concepts such as the 70/30 rule and the
Golden Ratio, uncovering how artists use proportion, balance, and visual hierarchy to guide the viewer’s eye. By strengthening your powers of observation, you may find that artworks you once glanced at quickly begin to reveal new layers of meaning and intention. Join us for this engaging, accessible discussion that invites curiosity, encourages close looking, and makes the experience of viewing art both more insightful and fun.

Notes: Cancellation Policy (Please Read) Please let us know immediately if you are unable to attend a class. There is no refund for cancellations within two (2) weeks prior to a scheduled class. Programs that include food, beverage or art materials must be canceled within three (3) weeks prior in order to receive a refund. CLE reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment has not been met or for circumstances beyond our control, and participants will be notified, a complete refund will be issued. All classes are held in the CLE Lecture Hall at the Peggy Crosby Center unless otherwise noted. Addresses for “private home” venues will be provided to registrants within 2 days of the program date.
