Center for Life Enrichment
Life Enrichment Opportunities through Education, Art and More!
Start date: Wednesday, July 1 2026.
Schedule:
Wednesday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM ,
Resource person: Audra Bullard
Description:
This presentation explores the potential health benefits of spirituality, drawing
heavily on insights from contemporary scientific research. We will begin with a brief look at personality traits and the important roles of touch, connection, and
community in human well-being. From there, the presentation will move into the central—and sometimes controversial—task of defining spirituality itself. By examining how spirituality interacts with both psychological and physiological health, the talk aims to deepen our understanding of why these practices matter and how they can contribute to a more fulfilling life.
Upon completion of his child neurology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, William
Robertson worked with two kind, senior child neurologists who often reminded him there was more to medicine than medication. Later during a time in private practice he lost focus on the treatment of the entire person. While volunteering at three Native American Hospitals he was reminded of the importance of one’s spirit and belief in a Higher Power on one’s health. During the past 26 years while teaching and practicing at the University of Kentucky, review of numerous publications has supported these observations which has led William to attempt to teach and to remind himself that one cannot heal the body unless one also heals the soul.
