Description:

This class is structured to give our students a feel of what it's like dancing with a professional company.

Classes will start with an advanced-level ballet class and end with either a modern technique class or learning and creating original choreography specifically for the dancers.

Students who have not met the guidelines set by the Dance Arts staff to safely move into pointework who are enrolled will participate in demi-pointe and be provided further strengthening exercises.

Required age: Over 16 years old on the day of the activity

Notes: Dress Code: Option 1 – Any combination of leotard and tights and pink or skin tone split sole ballet shoes are accepted; skirts may be worn if desired. Option 2 – Any athletic shirt, thick tights, or biker shorts combination and black or white split sole ballet shoes with white socks are accepted. Hair should be in a neat ballet bun if long enough or neatly pulled out of the face. For more details on dress code and guidelines, please refer to the Dance Arts Handbook at Dance Arts (champaignparks.org). Students may wear their pointe shoes during the ballet technique portion of class with the instructor's permission.

Prerequisites: Must be enrolled in adult intermediate Ballet and higher or Ballet 6 & 7 and higher.
