Description:

Remembering Our Humanity

This course will explore life's most important question: "To be or not to be."

In other words, what makes life worth living!

To put this thought into perspective, we will discuss:

  • What is knowledge? How can we increase the chances of making better life decisions and avoiding errors
  • The origin of the Universe; how it evolved and some remaining mysteries
  • The evolution of life and human beings in particular - what is human nature and our place in the natural world?
  • Ethics - is there any objective standard of right and wrong, and how should we live our lives?
  • What are the primary historical, social, and economic reasons for the crises that we face, including threats to democracy, the attacks on human rights, and the climate emergency
  • What can we do, as individuals, communities, and as citizens to promote human survival and to create a truly democratic global society which minimizes pain and maximizes flourishing

Audience participation is a vital part of this course!
