The Legacy of CFB Chilliwack

Discover the fascinating history of Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack, originally known as "Camp Chilliwack," through this engaging two-session course. Explore how the base evolved over the decades and its significance to the community and Canadian military history until its closure in the 1990s.

In the first session, enjoy a "Show and Tell" featuring unique artifacts from the old base, providing a tangible connection to its storied past. The second session will take you on a guided walking tour through the former base, now Garrison Crossing. This approximately two-hour tour will start at Waves Coffee House and offer a closer look at the area’s transformation while sharing stories and insights about life on the base.

Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about this local landmark, this course offers a unique glimpse into the legacy of CFB Chilliwack.

An off-site waiver form must be signed prior to participating in this course.

Masks are not mandatory, distancing is recommended. Should any participant wish to wear a mask they are welcome to do so. Chilliwack ElderCollege and community partners will continue to follow all health protocols.
