Description:
Introduction to Cyanotype Printing
This course is designed for participants interested in exploring the process of Cyanotype printing. Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a distinctive blueprint. Developed in the 19th century by Sir John Herschel, it involves using a solution of iron salts, which, when exposed to UV light and washed with water, produces the cyan-blue image. This method was popular for creating architectural blueprints and botanical prints. Over time, it has also been appreciated as an art form for its aesthetic appeal and simplicity. This class will focus on expanding the use of this historic technique.
Cyanotype printing involves using natural materials to create unique prints on paper or fabric. The course will introduce students to the basic techniques and principles of Cyanotype printing, allowing them to create beautiful and interesting, one-of-a-kind prints that can be used for your creative ideas.
