Jesmond Dene Park - Model Rocket Launching Permit

Description

Rockets may only be launched at Jesmond Dene Park in the designated areas between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday and Sundays. No launching is allowed on Saturdays. (Please note: Launching availability on Sunday’s is very limited due to increased activity in the park.) 

Only "A" and "B" model rocket engines are allowed. Launching must be supervised by an adult, 18 years and older.

Applicant must call Escondido Fire Dispatch at 760-839-4722 after 8:30 a.m. on each day of a requested launch to verify if that day is a "burn day." If it is a "no burn" day because of the high fire hazard, no launch may take place. Launching permits will not be granted from June 1 through October 31 because of high fire hazard. You may also call this number if you require the gates on a field to be unlocked. A park ranger or Public Works staff member will be dispatched to assist you.

The Community Services Department and/or the Fire Department reserves the right to suspend any launching for just cause.

The undersigned agrees to abide by the requirements of the Escondido Fire Department as listed here as well as the National Association of Rocketry Model Rocket Safety Code.

Applicant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless, the City of Escondido and its officers, agents, and employees from any and all liability or claim of liability, including attorney fees, arising by reason of personal injury, death or property damage which results from either the City's or applicant's negligent, reckless, or intentional acts, errors, or omissions, or any dangerous conditions of property. Whenever required by the City, applicant shall provide liability insurance in a form acceptable to the City Attorney.
