Description:

This firing course is for intermediate to advanced students that wish to explore the potential of soda firing. Participants will be guided from week to week with both handbuilding and wheel throwing demonstrations and encouraged to experiment with a variety of materials in the soda kiln to enhance their personal vision in clay. Both throwers and handbuilders are welcome.

Required age: Over 14 years old on the day of the activity

Notes: If you are in a wheel class for the first time, please stop by Blick, Davens or online to pick up a "pottery tool kit" (similar to Kemper PTK) before your class, or as we get started. There are an infinite number of tools and upgrades, but the set will do to start. You may also want to bring an old towel to put of your lap to keep yourself clean while working – your car will thank you! All work to be fired must be made at Art Center West. All clay must be purchased from the art center.
