Performance Workshop – Introducing Sam’s Room the musical

Roswell Cultural Arts, Roswell Adaptive Programs and Atlanta Dance Central are collaborating on a series of workshops that will culminate in a 2026 performance of Sam's Room (Selected as part of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s 29th Annual Festival of New Musicals) This opportunity is designed for both youth performers with intellectual disabilities and those without intellectual disabilities that come together to learn and perform in an inclusive manner.

Join the creators of this amazing musical and idea in an intimate workshop setting. Students will work with seasoned professionals on a variety of performance techniques. The session will begin with the exploration of body language and non-verbal communication. They will then explore expressing emotion through movement to music and finally all of the skills applied to storytelling with text.

This unique learning opportunity will demonstrate importance of having different types of people in spaces working together and how this will create a unique and powerful artistic expression.

Cost of this workshop has been subsidized through the generosity of the Roswell Ramblers

About Sam’s Room

This pop concert dramedy follows Sam, a teenager in 1998 with nonspeaking special needs, on his path to find a way to communicate. Shifting between cruel reality and pop star fantasy, Sam’s Room powerfully reveals the universal struggle with communication by giving a voice to someone who’s never had one.
