Description:
Students will explore form and surface in a demonstration-based atmosphere while learning to wedge, center, and throw functional forms such as mugs, bowls, and vases. This class is essential for the novice, as it will focus on proper techniques, but will have something to offer participants of all skill levels and will encourage aesthetic growth with the use of the pottery wheel. Instruction in a variety of forms will be geared toward the experience level of the class and interest of the individual as clay, glaze, and kilns are explored at high temperatures.
Instructor: TBD
Available spots:
Price: $230.00 - $345.00 Taxes waived
Required age: 13 - 18 years old on the day of the activity
Notes: If you are in a wheel class for the first time, please stop by Blick, Davens or online to pick up a "pottery tool kit" (similar to Kemper PTK) before your class, or as we get started. There are an infinite number of tools and upgrades, but the set will do to start. You may also want to bring an old towel to put of your lap to keep yourself clean while working – your car will thank you! All work to be fired must be made at Art Center West. All clay must be purchased from the art center.
