Description:

Explore the joy of painting with watercolor in this introductory course. Students will learn about materials, color, tone and a variety of techniques, tips and tricks. As we learn how to use watercolor in this communal environment, we will take on a series of more complex projects. The instructor will be there to guide and support students, keeping them on track and cheering them on. Expect demonstrations, discussion of terms, one on one assistance and group critiques.

Notes: WATERCOLOR SUPPLY LIST: Watercolor Paper: (140 lb. cold press) 12” x 16” size. I highly recommend the Arches brand. 12 sheets Watercolor Paints: Artist grade tube paints are recommended. You can buy them individually or buy a starter pack that includes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, brown, white and pink. Brands like Winsor Newton, Daniel Smith, American Journey are recommended. Watercolor Palette: (one with a lid is recommended) Watercolor Brushes: 2 Round Brushes (one between #2-6 and one between #10-12) and a ½ inch or larger mop brush. I recommend princeton velvet touch brushes. Bring more brushes if you have them or want to try something else. Water Container: (a large plastic container like an empty yogurt container) Paper towels or hand towel Small spray bottle
