Great news! Cat Card Level 3 has expanded beyond the weeklong camp to offer a long-term progression pathway for sailors who want to continue building their skills.
If you completed Cat Card Level 3C (the weeklong camp) last year, you now have the opportunity to advance your sailing experience with Cat Card Level 3B & 3A, which focus on independent sailing, teamwork, and race preparation.
CAT CARD LEVEL 4 - Choose Your Path
Advancing Skills & Expanding Horizons
Cat Card Level 4 is where sailors take their skills to the next level while choosing the pathway that best suits their interests. Whether focusing on FreeRide sailing or diving into the competitive side of the sport, Level 4 offers exciting challenges, skill refinement, and personal growth.
Program Breakdown:
- Level 4B (FreeRide - Getaway, 3-4 sailors per boat) – A confidence-building program focused on self-reliance, ocean exploration, and the joy of sailing outside of competition.
- Level 4A (Learn to Race - Wave, Single-Handed Sailing) – A structured introduction to competitive sailing, race tactics, and strategy development.
LEVEL 4(B) - FREERIDE SAILING
Sailing with friends, exploring, and growing skills in a low-stress environment.
This level is ideal for competent sailors who want to continue their journey in a challenging yet relaxed setting without the pressures of competition. Sailing on the 16ft Getaway with a crew of 3-4, this program focuses on confidence-building, teamwork, and discovering the broad range of opportunities sailing has to offer.
Self-Reliance & Exploration – Encouraging sailors to take initiative in their sailing experience.

Adventure & Ocean Awareness – Exploring diverse sailing conditions and locations.

LEVEL 4(A) - LEARN TO RACE
A comprehensive introduction to competitive sailing and race preparation.
Designed for sailors ready to take on the technical and tactical challenges of catamaran racing, this level is taught using the 14ft Wave in a single-handed sailing format.
Buoy Course Racing – Training in navigating race courses effectively.
Race Starts & Strategy – Learning positioning, timing, and technique for successful starts.
Racing Rules & Flags – Understanding competition rules, right-of-way, and flag signals.
Advanced Racing Maneuvers – Mastering fast tacks, gybes, and mark roundings.
Race Etiquette & Judgment Skills – Developing decision-making, sportsmanship, and in-race adjustments.
Team Dynamics & Communication – Learning to coordinate and interact within a competitive setting.
