COMPASS ADVENTURE
OCEAN SMART Activity Centre
Individual membership
Adult Sailing Access offers scheduled sailing sessions from May through September for adults who want to stay active on the water beyond their courses.
This membership is about consistency, confidence and community. It provides a structured opportunity to sail regularly, connect with other adult sailors and enjoy time on the water.
Adult Sailing Access is where course graduates become regular sailors.
Members rig, launch and sail together during coordinated access sessions, supported by on-site staff and safety boat oversight. Designated evenings include relaxed community sailing and optional post-sail BBQ use, giving members the chance to connect and enjoy time by the water beyond the sailing session itself.
Adult Sailing Access is not an instructional program. It is an opportunity to sail regularly, build experience and remain part of the Compass Adventure sailing community.
Adult Sailing Access is open to:
• Sailors who have successfully completed Adult Learn to Sail Level 2 • Sailors who have been signed off by Compass Adventure • Sailors who are ready to participate independently within program structure
• Access to scheduled Adult Sailing Access sessions from May through September • Shared use of Compass Adventure sailboats • Safety boat supervision and coordinated fleet launch/return structure • A structured independent sailing environment • Community-oriented sailing evenings and designated BBQ use times • Ongoing opportunity to build consistency and confidence on the water
Sailing Access operates in coordinated time blocks.
Members are welcome to arrive shortly before the scheduled start time to prepare, change and begin setting up their boats once staff and the designated safety lead are present.
Before launching: • Boats are checked for proper rigging • Safety gear is confirmed • Staff ensure all sailors are ready
Launches occur as a coordinated fleet. Sailors remain within designated sailing areas under safety boat supervision.
Return to shore also happens as a coordinated group. The session end time reflects when all boats are expected to be back within the compound and in the process of being fully put away.
This structured format allows sailors to enjoy independence while remaining part of a safe, supported fleet environment.
Members are expected to:
• Rig and de-rig boats independently • Follow all safety procedures and staff direction • Sail within designated areas • Respect equipment and fellow sailors • Participate responsibly within the fleet structure
Adult sailors participate independently, with coordinated group launches and safety boat oversight in place.
All required safety equipment must be worn and used correctly at all times. Participants must follow Compass Adventure safety procedures and staff direction.
Failure to comply with safety requirements or participation guidelines may result in suspension or termination of membership at Compass Adventure’s discretion.
