Cat Card Level 5 is where sailors step up to a new level of performance sailing, upgrading to the Raptor 18 (R18)—an 18ft catamaran designed specifically for youth sailors. This boat is a modified evolution of the F18, featuring wings and enhanced design elements to create a better, more dynamic sailing experience for young athletes. Level 5 is where sailors learn to challenge themselves on this exciting new boat while refining their teamwork, technical skills, and racing proficiency.

Unlike previous levels, Cat Card Level 5 is a single-tier program, providing the essential training needed to build towards the highest youth sailing level—Cat Card Level 6. This level requires a full commitment to sailing across the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons and may take multiple years to complete. This boat offers greater speed, technical refinement, and advanced handling—challenging sailors to fine-tune their sailing abilities while learning to manage the power and precision of a larger catamaran.

What You’ll Learn in Level 5:

Learning to Sail the Raptor 18 – Gaining control and confidence in handling a larger, more advanced catamaran, setting the foundation for mastery at Cat Card Level 6.

Team Coordination & Multi-Crew Sailing – Sailing with a crew of 3 sailors per boat, learning the importance of teamwork and communication.

Advanced Sail Trim & Boat Handling – Fine-tuning techniques for speed, balance, and tactical maneuvering.

Racing Fundamentals on a Larger Scale – Applying knowledge from previous levels to a more powerful catamaran with new challenges.
