Dog Training Classes at the Humane Society of Oakville, Milton & Halton

HSOMH is pleased to introduce our new dog training classes, designed to support dogs and their people at every stage. We offer both group classes and private sessions to suit your needs and learning style.

All Behaviour Training Sessions are thoughtfully developed by a CPDT-KA certified dog trainer, using positive, evidence-based techniques that build confidence, strengthen bonds, and set your dog up for long-term success.

Private Training

Our private training sessions are designed for dogs and handlers looking for a more tailored 1:1 training experience, whether that be general obedience skills or complex behavioural problems such as reactivity, resource guarding etc. Training can be completed in person at the shelter or via video conference depending on the severity of the behaviour issue. Email support is included between booked sessions.

This program is for dogs that bark or lunge at other dogs, often called reactive dogs, as well as dogs that are fearful, under socialized or ones that need help with impulse control, separation anxiety, nuisance barking and stereotypic behaviour. This program focuses on reducing reactivity, building confidence, and teaching life skills, helping dogs learn how to thrive in their environment.

Behaviour Training Sessions are designed by a CPDT-KA certified dog trainer. These sessions will include an initial assessment, training plan, email check-ins between training sessions, and resources as well as support through the homework.

We recommend starting with training sessions booked in once a week for the first few sessions then moving to a session reoccurrence that works for you and your dog to help maintain training progress and direction.

Multipass

With the purchase of the Private Training Multipass, you receive 3 private lessons. Once purchased, simply register for your desired class dates through your Amilia account—each booking will automatically redeem one visit from your pass.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

• 15 or more business days before the program start date: a full refund will be issued, minus a 10% administrative fee.
• 14-5 business days before the program start date: a 50% refund will be issued.
• 4 or fewer business days before the program start date: no refund will be issued.

All requests for cancellations must be submitted in writing to dogclasses@hsomh.ca

Refunds will be processed using the original method of payment.
