Description:

Calling all class clowns! This workshop starts with a crash course on the different genres and eras of comedy on screen, from silent-film falls to screwball comedy, satire, absurdism, parody, mockumentary, dark comedy, and beyond. Whether your idea of funny is Buster Keaton, Will Ferrell, or Monty Python, you’ll learn cinematic techniques to make audiences roll in the aisles!

In addition to learning the steps of filmmaking, Comedy Filmmaking students will learn about improv, joke writing, comic timing, and how to use the camera to sell a bit. Each small group will create a short comedic masterpiece over the course of the week!

Returning filmmakers will get additional, advanced instruction.

This workshop counts as one Core Filmmaking credit towards the Light House Achievement Award. Visit lighthousestudio.org/achievement-award for more information.
