Description:
Godzilla… King Kong… Frankenstein… where would the movies be without great monsters? In this workshop, filmmakers will build stories around the biggest, scariest, hairiest creatures their imaginations can conjure up. We’ll learn about the history of movie monsters and special effects, practice techniques like forced perspective and green screen compositing, and build our own creatures! Students will work in groups to complete a short monster movie over the course of the week. Then we'll watch their finished projects on the big screen! Rising 7th-12th graders can work towards the Light House Achievement Award by completing programs in three different categories. This workshop counts as one Core Filmmaking credit. Visit lighthousestudio.org/achievement-award for more information. Watch "Werewolf vs. Lobster," made in the 2025 Middle School Creature Features workshop! Tuition assistance is available for all Light House workshops. To apply, fill out the Tuition Assistance application and wait for a response from our staff with further instructions.
