Description:
A summer internship about social media for teens! There’s a lot of discussion about the effects of social media on teens’ mental health, but rarely do we actually ask teens and young adults what they want and need so they can use social media in good ways. WHY PARTICIPATE? Apply Now! *application required
We want to help teens and young adults figure out solutions that will work for them.
During this internship, high school students will work in teams to create PSAs, podcasts, skits, interviews, or other creative conversation starters that explore topics related to teen’s mental health and social media. No previous experience is required.
Build Your Resume
The "Speak Your Truth" internship provides participants unique opportunities to learn marketable skills like creative collaboration, creative writing, producing, directing, filmmaking with DSLR cameras, editing, and enriched knowledge about digital mental health research.
Network with Peers and Professionals
The internship will include a mix of high school students, experienced filmmakers, and psychology university students with shared interests in creative expression, digital arts, psychology, and mental health on social media. It’s a great opportunity to create connections with like-minded people.
Design Your Own Mental Health Intervention Through Filmmaking
The goal of this internship is to produce digital content that can start conversations with peers and bring awareness to the community by exploring teen mental health and social media. In the process, you will gain knowledge about mental health research, work with a film crew to apply that knowledge in creative ways, and learn how to present your ideas in an engaging manner through film.
