About LGBTQ+ at the J: At LGBTQ+ at the J there is no right way to be Queer, and no right way to be Jewish; there's certainly no right way to be both. Our programs aim to support diverse, pluralistic, and accessible community at the intersection of LGBTQ+ and Jewish identities and experiences. We bring Queerness into Jewish moments and bring Jewishness into Queer life, striving for spaces where everybody can bring their full self. We both celebrate and amplify LGBTQ+ Jewish people and stories, in recognition of their inherent value.

About Keshet: Keshet envisions a world in which all LGBTQ Jews and our families can live with full equality, justice, and dignity. By strengthening Jewish communities and equipping Jewish organizations with the skills and knowledge they need to make all LGBTQ Jews feel welcome, we work to ensure the full equality of all LGBTQ Jews and our families in Jewish life. We also create spaces in which all queer Jewish youth feel seen and valued and advance LGBTQ rights nationwide.

About Rabbi Kleinman: Rabbi Lonnie Kleinman Keshet’s Associate Director of Education and Training. Prior to joining Keshet, Lonnie served as a chaplain resident at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, where she met and journeyed alongside patients and families.

Lonnie holds a BA in Religious Studies and Art History from Lewis and Clark College and a MA in Hebrew Letters and Ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. She is passionate about relational organizing and pastoral care in dreaming of a future in which all LGBTQ+ people are seen and affirmed, and liberation exists for us all. She loves gathering inspiration for dreaming and living out this world through Talmud study, especially as exemplified in the holy connections of hevruta study. Lonnie is a trained spiritual director, ritualist, and death educator.

Originally from Tucson, Az, on Tohomo O’odham land, Lonnie is a queer, fat femme. She currently lives in Philadelphia, on Lenape land, where she is a part of the inaugural cohort for Based-In, an initiative of Base. In her free time, she tends to her garden and house plants and hikes in the woods with her pup.

Presented with support from Kolel Legacy Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto.
