Description:
Calling all families with kids ages 9–12! Join us for an in-person book club at the Miles Nadal JCC on Sunday September 21, 3:30pm with our PJ Our Way Connector Casey Soer! We’ll be reading Welcome Back, Maple Mehta-Cohen by Kate McGovern - the story of Maple, an eleven-year-old with a big imagination and a love of words who has been keeping a secret: she can’t read very well. When her secret comes out, Maple has to repeat fifth grade. As she struggles with embarrassment, friendships, and finding her place in the world, Maple learns about honesty, resilience, and celebrating all parts of who she is. Through conversation and interactive activities, we’ll explore themes of identity, belonging, and perseverance - all in a welcoming, thoughtful, and fun environment. Copies of the book are available for free pick up. About PJ Our Way PJ Our Way is the next chapter of PJ Library for kids ages 9-12.
