Description:
What do chess and theater have to do with each other? More than you might think! From being aware of your surroundings to planning your next action to thinking and responding on your feet, there are a lot of ways the performer brain can benefit from training for chess.
Working with Hoboken native and actor Max Tamarkin, beginner students will learn the fundamentals of chess through puzzles, games, and storytelling, and they will develop a range of skills that can help them improve as young players and as critical thinkers.
Meanwhile the vets, the Bobby Fischer types? They'll dig into theories, work on their openers, muse about different end game strategies, and sharpen their skills by playing against each other, culminating in a chess tournament to see who takes home the highest honor.
Using differentiated instruction, students of all levels are welcome and will be met where they are and challenged to improve their poise, their confidence, and their ability to think several moves ahead, all while having fun doing so!
Recommended for ages 7-12
Price: $850.00 Taxes waived
